The 2008 Distinguished University Professor title was awarded to Janice Kiecolt-Glaser. The Distinguished University Professor title is awarded permanently to no more than three exceptional faculty per year. The title recognizes accomplishments in research, scholarly or creative work, teaching, and service that are both distinguished and distinctive. The Office of Academic Affairs awards honored faculty an annual budget of $10,000 for a period of three years to support their academic work. Honorees are expected to continue a regular program of teaching, research, scholarly or creative work, and service.
