The Psychology Internship is a new addition to the education and training programs offered by the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. Practicum and fellowship training has long been a part of our mission but the inclusion of a formal psychology internship underscores the role that health behaviors play in the onset, maintenance and recovery from disease. The first cohort of interns will begin on July 1, 2015.
As a new program, we are not yet accredited by the American Psychological Association. However, we anticipate applying for accreditation as soon as possible and hope to schedule our site visit during the 2015 – 2016 academic year and shortly thereafter be granted “accredited on contingency” status by the APA. Thus, we anticipate that our first class of interns will graduate from an accredited program.
