STAR Brief Emotional Support Therapy (BEST) Services

BEST services provide staff at the OSU Wexner Medical Center time to debrief and defuse as well as to grieve losses after a traumatic situation. Aftercare and follow-up are critical after experiencing a difficult event or loss.

“In the past, employees have been afraid to talk about their experiences with provider stress, burnout and vicarious trauma- they didn’t want to appear weak.  But we can no longer ignore these critical concerns, which affect the health and well-being of our staff every day.”

-Steven G. Gabbe, MD
Senior Vice President for Health Sciences
Chief Executive Officer, OSU Medical Center
