About the Department

Lisa Christian, PhD

Lisa Christian, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology, Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research is a clinical health psychologist with the Department of Psychiatry since 2008. She is establishing a research program examining effects of stress on health during pregnancy, with an emphasis on immune mediators linking stress and preterm birth. Her work is supported by an R21 from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) as well as pilot grants form the OSU Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), the OSU College of Dentistry and the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity. Dr. Christian regularly presents her research at the annual meetings of the Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society (PNIRS) and American Psychosomatic Society (APS). She provides research opportunities for undergraduates, medical students and residents through her research program and supervises Psychiatry residents in the provision of cognitive behavioral therapy.
