OSU Harding Hospital has 20 acute child and adolescent psychiatric inpatient beds

Clinical Services at Nationwide Children's Hospital

Outpatient services:

One of the largest academic outpatient pediatric behavioral health treatment programs in the country, with over 180,000 completed outpatient visits in the past year.

  • Diagnostic assessment
  • Psychiatric assessment
  • Psychological testing
  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Family psychotherapy
  • Medication management

Examples of evidence based treatments available include:

    • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI) for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders
    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (TF-CBT)
    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
    • Multifamily Psychoeducational Psychotherapy (MF-PEP)
    • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
    • The Incredible Years
Intermediate care services:

A large and active community based treatment program that delivered nearly 100,000 care visits last year and applying a number of evidence based treatments such as:

  • Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST)
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Consultation
  • Diagnostic Assessment
  • Home-based Services
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI) for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders
  • Multisystemic Therapy (MST) for disruptive behavioral problems
Consultation-liaison services: 
  • A large and active consultation liaison psychiatry service at NCH, with the capacity to manage youth suffering from medically unexplained physical symptoms and coping with the impact of chronic physical illness
Decision support for primary care physicians

The new Pediatric Psychiatry Network provides innovative behavioral health triage, decision support and education to primary care clinicians to help better serve their patients with mental health disorders.

This service is available through the following options:
